Review:
When my mother hit theaters in 1999, critics everywhere sharply as the poor mans Indiana Jones. While both films are the most similar to GoldenEye Dr. No's (fortunately), I think the comparison between non-stop adventure film, while others are unavoidable. Ultimately, what is important in determining the quality of the films is at a level where they can have fun. And if there's one thing my mom is good, it was fun. Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo are very carefully selected for their roles. The Mummy Returns is easy to see how the second installment churned enough greedy money machine that has become Hollywood, but there are a few things that work for thereof. One thing that is immediately evident is that the extension is designed to be a film that can be used without having seen the original. The only references to the previous film have been done to fill the gaps in the story of Imhotep who is and why it is what it is. Appendix The Scorpion King is an interesting attempt to capture new antagonist, but the lack of screentime does not work well in this tangential benefit. Another tangent that could better developed rivalry Imhoteps girl and what is said. Imhotep initially replaced Rachel Weiszs character that his girlfriend reborn, so the use of a woman who looks exactly like her during the making of this new tangent should be developed differently. Most people will not care about complex tangents and history I want to know if this movie is fun. And it's fun, it's okay. There is hardly a dull moment in the film remarkable long-term and Oded Fehr for his bang-up job of providing a Mad-Max-cum-Indiana Jones-hero. I want to know when they will get those groovy costumes and tattoos, they look very nice. Anyway, when all is said and done, that's eight out of ten films. Several poorly constructed story details here and there, but some really fun action scenes do for them. Do not listen to nay-sayers. This is a material preview on your style (almost) the best. Get the DVD, when it comes out, it will at least tide you over until George Lucas gets his head out of his proverbial and realize that the era of VHS is really over.
