Review:
You're Next is a home invasion / survival film in the style of Funny Games, The Strangers or were last house on the left. As the last set, you will usually find these kind of people attacked by strangers in a remote house. The Next're not bringing new, BU does a great job in providing great stress and tension associated with this particular genre of horror. If the film really stands out is that it adds some really clever crime and comedy elements to the genre, that is truly unique. The film does a fantastic job in giving you the true / false tips on how you can take part in the invasion, and some really long hours wondering if this is true, and who it could be, as in the great Italian giallo. Second, the film, which begins in a serious tone, gradually and subtly combines elements of comedy in it. In the end, it's funny, but never overstated or absurd, keeping the film on track horror movie of all time. There is also plenty of gore in the film, and the Gore-dogs find many of them brutal murders. The main actress and the character she played, also to be mentioned, because that's what the image of the film, a real bad-ass! You're Next is both true to the genre and innovative. The balance between the horror, crime and comedy is perfect. A big surprise and 2013s as the best film so far.
