Description:
Mr. Church join the mercenaries for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them in the middle of enemy territory and against an unanticipated threat.
Review:
While the mission one of the Expendables is killed, it leads the crew to go on a mission of revenge. But it is too much to handle? I was seriously disappointed in the first Expendable movie, the mediocre effort, the use of CGI blood and destroy the villain meaningless experience. So I was hoping that the second time they will fix these issues. I can safely say that they did, and they did it in spades. The big change is no longer Stallone behind the camera, so he is more focused on his role as Barney and his mind is split between two different locations. The biggest change is the tone Expendables 2 is not taken seriously at all, and nor did I, so I had a blast watching what is ultimately a parody of action genre. I can look past plays, lack of story and plot because the film does not attempt to give you one. Its simple movie with a simple object. Get as many of these big guys in the movie, to make guys flick with lots of action and killing, and they succeeded. The biggest misstep this movie has been the motivation behind revenge. The wrong person died. A character is killed, you have almost zero emotional about it, it would make more sense if it was another character who disappears early in the film. It seems this character only goal was to get these characters get their revenge, making it less engaging for viewer.I was surprised by how I was underwhelmed by the plot of the first movie here it is more stylish and fun. The film step on the gas from the start and almost never lets up. We are thrown into the action sequence at the beginning, which is better than nothing original had to offer. A more competent action director behind the lens this time, Simon West, who gave us Con Air, and later Mechanic. He understands what is needed and provides some wild action sequences. As I mentioned earlier, is that the film does not take it seriously, and it has a very tongue and cheek attitude about it. Its not afraid to flash the camera, especially when Chuck Norris enters the screen and steals the show with najsmeshni line in the whole movie. The film is full of one liners you'd expect from an action movie. During the battle, a character exclaims Lets wrap it up, he then proceeds to take a chain and wrap it around a different character throat to choke out. Another scene we shot bad guy dozen times by all and Stallone Strikes, Rest in pieces. Finally, my favorite, says Stallone heads up then proceeds to throw his head for some people. Yes, this film is violent, so no fear of PG-13 rating. So these guys? Well, they all come back, some have much more to do than others. Lundgren is basically the comic relief. Teams and Cour Tours again short shift and feels like background characters. Schwarzenegger, Willis and Norris all have more in depth cameos and Van Damme finally shines as the villain. Van Damme really deserved more screen time. We are familiar with it, so we cut every so often, as he tries to steal the plutonium, then we have a fight with him in the end. He deserved more screen time, so did his right-hand man, Scott Adkins. Both are more martial arts fighters like the big gun shooters, and since this is Stallone movie, it's a shot movies. They took their battle sequences, but both of them thought could be a little longer. Especially Van Damme / Stallone fight. So the end, Expendables exactly what the first film to have done. It's hilarious parody of the action genre and non-stop excitement from start to finish. This is the final film of these guys that I've been waiting for.
