Review:
Every summer a film comes around that takes everyone by surprise. Last year was Scary Movie and I'm sure in 1977 was a movie like Star Wars and then in 1981 the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Now I'm not saying The Fast and the Furious in the same class as Raiders and Star Wars, just surprised everyone on the same level. F & F is short on plot and dialogue and even some of the acting lame, but what is it oozes testosterone. It pumps the blood, increases adrenaline and attack you with fast cars, sexy women, and always one to answer I think that is going to be this ... Vin Diesel. There's just something about the guy, something you really can not put your finger on, but he just has it. Maybe it charisma, charm maybe, maybe it's just that he looks like some 80s action hero struck with his upper arm muscles and his album Pécs. Maybe it's all those things and maybe none of these things, all I know is that F & F is exactly what I had hoped to that and nothing more. This is a summer movie I've been waiting for. Not that the movies have been released so far arent that great because some of them are, just that this is what epitomizes what Summer is all about as teen ager. It is no wonder that the exit polls for this movie was about 65-70% less than 21 And perhaps this is why I enjoyed it so much. I'm pushing 30 but is cool to lose yourself in a movie that reminds you what it was like being in high school . And it's cool to see street racers break 140 miles per hour wile they shoot NOS with their vehicles? Well is not it? F & F does not contain similar machinations like Mission Impossible film and special effects Dazzle us of impending doom like Armageddon did, but it takes us into a world where people live a quarter of a mile at a time. Vin Diesel plays Dominic Toretto, massive, bald as a mechanic at a garage but street racing on the side to make some extra cash. Paul Walker (The Skulls, Varsity Blues) plays Brian Spindler. It is a cop who has infiltrated the gang way to find out who is highjacking trucks and steal cargo. There are about four rival street gangs in LA and one of them is to pull it off. He must figure out which one. Of course along the way is seduced by life, but that's not what we really care about. All that we see a lot of racing, a few crashes, some conflicts and some sex. F & F did not disappoint. If what I saw in the trailers of the film excites and entices you, then you know exactly what you're in for. It will not win any Oscars for anything but what it will do is entertain you. It will speed you to a world where 90 minutes are souped up Hondas look like Dragon and Junk Yard scraps are rebuilt from the ground up to be better than before, better, stronger and faster. If this film brought to you in business, will appeal to you on the course screen. And Vin Diesel. He first made a name for itself in Saving Private Ryan where he played Capparrzo. He jumped onto the scene with an excellent turn and his grandiose Riddick in Pitch Black. I think this is the film that got him noticed that no one had heard of him before this. Then he boiler room and he showed his other side. But F & F is all muscle and sheer bravado. I think Vin is going to do great things in the coming years. There is not anyone else. This movie will take care of it. And face it, it's amazing to see the creation of a new action hero? 8 out of 10 - The perfect summer rush!
